Hull

The hull is made of fibreglass. A hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

The hull is a double hull. The core material in the sandwich construction is PVC foam.PVC foam core is a synthetic material which offers excellent mechanical properties and low weight. It is widely used and has a proven track record in marine sandwich composites.

Rig

The Vik 152 is built with a masthead rig. The sail area for the mailsail + jib is 152.0 m2 (1,636.0 ft2). The advantage of a masthead rig is its simplicity and the fact that a given sail area - compared with a fractional rig - can be carried lower and thus with less heeling moment.


Keel

Bilge keel

The Vik 152 is built with a bilge keel. A bilge keel is a twin keel, which allows the boat to be beached. Bilge keels are the most popular keel for tidal waters.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 0.58 - 0.68 meter (1.90 - 2.20 ft) dependent on the load.
